Our Name
Our Logo
Upstream Resources - - Upstream as a geographical term means toward the source of a stream or river. It is also a term used in the petroleum industry to refer to the exploration for and production of oil and gas. The general business community also uses the expression to refer to the manufacturing sector of a business.
The upstream sector of an enterprise primarily performs the knowledge work to produce business options.
Our intent in the use of the word upstream is to refer to our contribution to understand, generate, and access opportunities for discovery, acquisition, production, sale, and sustainable consumption of mineral and energy resources.
A resource is a person, material, asset, or capital which is necessary to accomplish a goal. Thus – Upstream Resources – is people, experience, data, knowledge, and service that assesses and enables mineral resource solutions for mid- and end-market users.

The meanings of the three, equally spaced, sine waves include:
- Continuity
- Completion – the segment is one complete cycle of the sine wave
- Balance
- Our three “lines” of consideration: business, academic, social
- The three principles of sustainable development: economic growth, ecological balance, social progress
